XCrySDen is a crystalline and molecular structure visualisation program,
which aims at display of isosurfaces and contours, which can be
superimposed on crystalline structures and interactively rotated and
manipulated. It can run on most UNIX platforms, without any special hardware requirements.
Here is the simplest installation procedure for xcrysden installation.
The general method for Ubuntu has been given in this post.
Here is the simplest method of all.
Download it and keep it on Desktop...
Now open a terminal and type in the following...
The following applies for both 32-bit and 64-bit users...
cd ~/Desktop
tar -xzvf xcrysden_*_debian_and_ubuntu.tar.gz
cd xcrysden_*_debian_and_ubuntu
chmod +x ./install.sh
./install.sh
After finishing installation you can verify installation by typing in
xcrysden

That has nothing to do with Xcrysden...

To rectify that message, one can do the following...
In the terminal, type in...
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

ReplyDeleteI'm using 12.04.2 for 32 bit. a compile error saying "Errors were encountered while processing:
ReplyDelete*.i386.deb" occurs and there's no xcrysden executable after the installation.
how to correct this
please edit the "install.sh" file using any text editor like gedit, nano, vi etc...

ie; remove the 'dot' after *
save it and proceed with the regular instructions...
